There’s something truly magical about sleeping next to the sea. As the gentle waves roll in, their rhythmic sound becomes the lullaby that lulls you to sleep, soothing your mind and body. The salty sea breeze brushes across your skin, carrying the fresh, invigorating scent of the ocean, while the cool night air creates the perfect atmosphere for rest.

With each breath, you feel more connected to the natural world around you. As you drift off to sleep, the distant sound of the waves crashing against the shore lingers, a comforting reminder that nature is both close and eternal.

WHAT TO EXPECT

You can expect a comfortable and inviting stay in the Cottage Suites, where relaxation and convenience come together.

Each spacious suite features an en-suite bathroom, offering both privacy and comfort. The queen-size or twin beds, dressed in fresh white linen, are accompanied by electric blankets, soft duvets, and cozy pillows, ensuring a restful night’s sleep.

Beside your bed, you’ll find bedside tables with lamps and convenient plug points for easy access.

The en-suite bathroom features a hot shower, basin, and soft bath towels, providing a refreshing experience.

Step outside to your private patio, where seating invites you to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings, with a view of the ocean.

Daily housekeeping takes care of the little details, ensuring your stay is effortless and comfortable.

Wooden tables are set with casual crockery, cutlery, and glassware, making each meal feel enjoyable and laid-back.

The safari bar, softly lit by lanterns, invites you to unwind with a refreshing drink in a cozy, welcoming space.

Outside, you’ll find a fireplace where guests can enjoy a glass of wine while watching the sunset. The perfect spot to unwind and soak in the evening ambiance.

The communal lounge area offers a relaxed space to socialize, with gas heaters and knee blankets provided for warmth, ensuring you stay cozy even as the night air cools.

Your retreat is designed for both comfort and connection, with easy access to everything you need, including parking right next to your tent for a smooth and relaxed stay.

About Namaqua National Park

Our camp is nestled within the Namaqua National Park, a pristine section of South Africa’s Succulent Karoo biome, renowned for its extraordinary biodiversity. Situated at Groenriviermond, approximately 495 km north of Cape Town and 22 km northwest of Kamieskroon, this coastal haven offers a unique blend of rugged terrain and serene seascapes. The park encompasses over 1,300 km² of semi-desert landscape, characterized by arid valleys, granite outcrops, and a rugged coastline along the Atlantic Ocean.

During the spring months, particularly from late August to early September, the park transforms into a vibrant tapestry of wildflowers. Following the winter rains, millions of blossoms blanket the landscape in a kaleidoscope of colours. This spectacular floral display attracts visitors from around the globe, eager to witness one of nature’s most breathtaking phenomena.

At Groenriviermond, guests can explore the 21 km 4×4 circular route, which meanders through coastal plains adorned with vibrant blooms. For those without a 4×4, the camp offers multiple wildflower walks, allowing you to experience the breathtaking blooms up close, just a short distance from your tent.
