Frequently asked questions

Do I need a 4×4?

A 4×4  is highly recommended to enhance your experience including the long coastal section and the road to Soebatsfontein from Skilpad, among others.

The dirt roads that access the camp via the SanParks offices are more than suitable for a vehicle with good ground clearance in which case you do not need a 4×4.

Do you arrange other accommodation in the Namaqua National Park

No, sorry we don’t.

Do I need to pay Park Fees?

Yes – this is not included in your rate. Please click on SanParks for more information

What meals are included?

Breakfast, Afternoon Tea, and Dinner.

Other – Picnic baskets are available on order for lunch at an additional cost (R480 – serves 2).

When can I order a picnic basket?

You can order and pay for your picnic basket online when you make your booking or in camp before dinner. The basket will be ready for collection after breakfast the following day.

Can I bring my own tent or caravan?

No, sorry, this is not possible.

Can I plug in my camping fridge/freezer?

No, sorry, this is not possible.

When do I need to pay?

You will be required to secure your booking with a 50% deposit and the balance is due 30 days prior to check-in.

Do you cater to special dietary requirements?

Yes, we do…just let us know at the time of your booking and we can arrange it for you and, if applicable, will let you know if there is a surcharge.

Will I see flowers?

We can’t guarantee that you will, but you will certainly be able to see far more on foot. Stop your car, get out and explore – you may be more than pleasantly surprised.

Is their signal in camp?

There is no signal at Beach Camp.  There is some signal at the Parks offices.

Do you take credit card?

We highly recommend keeping cash on you while in the camp. The signal is very poor and unreliable, and you may not be able to use your card.

Can I use GPS co-ordinates to reach the camp?

No. Please follow our directions only.

Will my tent have electricity?

Yes, but for limited periods only. Electricity is generator-driven.

Do you do tours

No, sorry we don’t – we can, however, point you in the right direction and we do have printed guides and books which you are welcome to make use of.

**Disclaimer – It should be noted that it is very difficult to predict with certainty what the flowers would be like in August and September. Flowers may be prevalent throughout the Western and Northern Cape at different times and South African Experiences cannot predict, with any certainty, what the flowers will be like within the boundaries of the camps location.
